The Centre for Nuclear Energy Studies was set up in the year 2009 by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the instrument of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission as an Institution (Universityofof Port Harcourt) – based nuclear research centreIt has the mandate of advancing nuclear technology through teaching and learning and thereby producing qualified human capital which is adequately equipped to optimally deploy nuclear technology in power generation, radiation protection, food and agriculture, human health, environmental management, industry and other diversified applications for the benefit of Nigeria’s socioeconomic development.
